Keeping in line with its mission of using technology for social service CIS has taken various initiatives.

COMSATS Internet Services Internship Program

COMSATS Internet Services had provided internship opportunities to the students of Roots Millennium Schools at CIS headquarter building in G-5/2, Islamabad. During the internship period the students were given the opportunity to work, observe and experience the professionalism. The students were given certificates on successful completion of internship from June to August 2013. CIS has always been at the forefront in promoting technical education & training activities to students and professionals.



Comclinic™ is a telehealth service from CIS which is offered to rural patients free of any charges. First telehealth clinic has been established at Gokina village near Pir Sohawa, Islamabad and 17 more telehealth clinics will be added to the network in future. The key features of Comclinic™ are as follows:

      • Free tele-consultations using video conferencing service
      • Telehealth equipment is attached to the patient
      • Dermatology
      • Gynecology
      • Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) examinations
      • Ultrasound facility
      • Professional doctors from leading hospitals
      • Nurse stationed at telehealth clinic
      • Free basic medicines

COMSATS provides web design training to visually handicapped students at NLRC

COMSATS Internet Services (CIS) in partnership with Directorate of Special Education & Social Welfare concluded a 6-week web design training course to a group of 25 visually impaired students at National Library and Research Center (NLRC), Islamabad. The training was conducted from January 2nd, 2012 to February 10th, 2012 at the library by Manager Software of CIS, Mr. Abid Rizvi. The training covered many web design topics including HTML, CSS, page layouts, Notepad as editor, Dreamweaver, Firebug, domain registration,hosting, and website update and maintenance. The 6-week training was concluded by a certificate distribution ceremony at NLRC where Director General Special Education & Social Welfare,  Syed Mustafain Kazmi was the chief guest. Other guests included Mr. Asim Shahryar Husain (CEO, COMSATS Internet Services) and Ms. Munazza Gilani (Manager, Sightsavers Pakistan). The ceremony started with heart-warming recitation and naat by visually impaired students. This was followed by fifteen students presenting websites which they had developed during this course. This was followed by speeches from Manager Sightsavers, CEO CIS, and DG Special Education. Manager, SightSavers mentioned that Sightsavers will be sponsoring more trainings for visually impaired students in future where they will be able to learn advanced design tools such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver. CEO CIS highlighted that mission of COMSATS is to use technology for social benefit through programs such as telehealth, training and it is a proud moment for COMSATS that it has trained these visually impaired students to be able to design websites sitting at home. This would create new employment as well as business opportunities for these students. DG Special Education congratulated students on completing the course successfully and that it was a major achievement for them to be able to design websites despite their visual handicap. This was followed by certificate distribution by DG Special Education and CEO CIS to all participants of the course and group pictures.


CIS develops a new website for civic management wing of CDA

 CIS software team has developed a new website for Civic Management Wing of CDA. CDA has linked this website to its official website under the Administration Wing section. The website can be viewed at this link. The website has the following four sections :

  • Emergency & Disaster Management
  • Sanitation
  • Landfill
  • Public Grievance Cell


COMSATS employees donate one-day salary and 2500 kgs of rice to flood victims

Islamabad, August 2010. Employees of COMSATS Internet Services (CIS) demonstrated their compassion for the flood victims of Pakistan by donating one day of their salary. CIS also donated part of its last month’s profits to the flood victims. COMSATS Peshawar office used these donations to make 1000 packs of dry food. These packs were handed over to camps in Charsadda for distribution to flood victims in many villages around Charsadda. In addition, COMSATS Headquarter collected donations from its employees, purchased and delivered 2500 kgs of rice to an NGO in Islamabad. The NGO cooked and distributed the food to different flood victims around Nowshera and Charsadda.
